Cataract Surgeries and IOU Lens Implants sponsored since June 1996

THE FOUNDATION SPONSORS 100 CATARACT SURGERIES & IOU IMPLANTS PER MONTH

As of June 1996, The Sanjay Anand Charitable Foundation (SACF) collaborated with ICARE to launch one of their first projects in India. The foundation is not only one of ICARE’s benefactor’s, Mr Sunil Anand (The President of The Sanjay Anand Charitable Foundation) is also one of the Trustees of ICARE.

The Process

FREE Transport From Village

Patients are transported FREE from their villages to the hospital, which is approximately 20-25 miles.

FREE Board & Lodging

Patients provided with FREE board and lodging during their hospital stay.

FREE Surgeries

Patients undergo FREE surgeries for the removal of the cataract and the implantation of IOU Lenses.

FREE Transportation Back Home

On day three, they are discharged and transported back to their home FREE.

FREE Follow-up Appointments

FREE follow-up appointments are organised based on individual cases, to ensure each patient is provided with optimal care.

ICARE Eye Bank

In 2000, The Sanjay Anand Charitable Foundation and the ICARE eye Hospital launched the ICARE Eye Bank (ICEB) in a joint effort. The ICEB is a registered Eye Bank under the Transplantation Human Organ Act of 1995, Government of India. ICEB has set standards in eye banking and is the model eye bank for northeastern Uttar Pradesh (India).

Our Causes

Cataract Surgeries & IOU Lens Implants

Eye surgeries are conducted for the removal of cataract and the implantation of IOU Lenses. One hundred surgeries are conducted per month since June 1996 to date.

Soup Kitchen

A Soup Kitchen is sponsored twice a week in Staten Island, New York for the past 20 years.

Approximately 3600 poor people are fed annually through the Soup Kitchens sponsored by the Foundation.

Charitable Hospital & Research Centre

A hospital has been built in Patna, India, in collaboration with The Bharat Vikas Viklang Punarvas Kendra, to provide prosthetic limbs to the disabled and opened a surgery ward for Polio surgeries for young children.

Adopt A Highway

We have also adopted a one mile stretch of the West Shore Expressway, in Staten Island, New York through the Adopt-A-Highway program from the department of transport.
