In June 1996, The Sanjay Anand Charitable Foundation (SACF) joined hands with the ICARE Hospital in Noida, India to initiate one of its first projects in the country. The President of The Sanjay Anand Charitable Foundation is not only a benefactor of ICARE but is also a trustee of the hospital. Since its inception, the foundation has been sponsoring 100 cataract surgeries every month at the hospital.

The collaboration between The Sanjay Anand Charitable Foundation and ICARE has been instrumental in providing much-needed medical aid to the underprivileged sections of society. Cataract is one of the leading causes of blindness in India, especially among the elderly population. The Process

FREE Transport From Village

Patients are transported FREE from their villages to the hospital, which is approximately 20-25 miles.

FREE Board & Lodging

Patients provided with FREE board and lodging during their hospital stay.

FREE Surgeries

Patients undergo FREE surgeries for the removal of the cataract and the implantation of IOU Lenses.

FREE Transportation Back Home

On day three, they are discharged and transported back to their home FREE.

FREE Follow-up Appointments

FREE follow-up appointments are organised based on individual cases, to ensure each patient is provided with optimal care.

ICARE Eye Bank

In the year 2000, The Sanjay Anand Charitable Foundation and the ICARE Eye Hospital came together to establish the ICARE Eye Bank (ICEB). This collaboration was aimed at creating a state-of-the-art eye bank that could set new standards in eye banking and help meet the growing demand for corneal transplants in north-eastern Uttar Pradesh.

The ICEB is a registered eye bank under the Transplantation of Human Organs Act of 1995, which is governed by the Government of India. The eye bank is committed to providing high-quality eye care services to the community and is dedicated to the cause of restoring sight to the visually impaired.

The inspiration behind the foundation

Born on the 8th of August 1977, Sanjay Anand was abruptly taken from us on the 10th of May 1995 in a car crash on the West Shore Expressway of Staten Island, New York. We will mark the 28th anniversary of his untimely demise on the 10th of May 2023.

Sanjay was a remarkable young man who left a lasting impact on those who knew him. He was only seventeen when he was taken from us – a teenager of great generosity and compassion, always willing to help those in need. Sanjay left behind a legacy that continues to inspire people to this day.
